Down the Rabbit Hole

Sometimes a track begins with a block. "Down the Rabbit Hole" was created over the Christmas and New Year holidays—intended as a psychedelic experience, just in time for the next gig. But midway through production, Metaphix got stuck: trapped in a loop with seemingly no escape. Ironically, a conversation with his family brought the turning point—and with it, the idea to weave film samples into the track. While browsing his DAW, his eye fell upon a sound called "Down the Rabbit Hole"—and suddenly the concept was there: an homage to Alice in Wonderland, making the fall down the rabbit hole audible. What followed was itself a rabbit hole: The production developed such a pull that Metaphix could hardly stop—layer upon layer deeper, until the track itself became the whirlpool it describes. Released in 2024, "Down the Rabbit Hole" is exactly that: an invitation to take the plunge—playful, psychedelic, and with the touch of madness that Wonderland demands. A track that proves the best ideas are sometimes waiting right where you feel stuck.
